ESAG's 6TH Biennial Juried Exhibition is a Resounding Success!

The Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild biennial juried exhibition (Oct. 14-23, 2016) held at St. Jude’s R.C. Church provided an opportunity for over five hundred people to see fourteen local artists’ newly created original sacred art.

Father Salvador Reyes (Fr. Jun) blessed the exhibit on opening night. Amongst the many visitors were Bishop Emeritus David Monroe, six religious sisters, three priests and many lay people as well as classes from St. Jude’s Elementary School.

On exhibit were paintings, icons, a wood carving, stained glass art, historical and contemporary vestments, rosaries and restored sculptures including two of the Stations of the Cross for the new St. Clare of Assisi Church in Coquitlam.

The exhibiting artists were: Patricia Ballard, Mary Catherine Breslin/Frank Turner, Ana Diaz-Drew, John and Laura Gilroy, Chris Kielesinsky, Steve Knight, Frantisek Krutsky, Christine Lim-Labossiere, Ilona Payne, Ana Maria Silva, Paul Stilwell and John Suter.

The Guild staff gave in-depth talks about the meaning of the Christian symbols in the art as well as information about their production.

The Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild is a registered B.C. Society of artists and associates which promotes the practice and appreciation of the sacred arts as defined by the Magisterium of the R.C. Church.

The ESAG meets monthly from Sept. to May at St. Jude’s Parish. Visit our website at: epiphanysacredarts.com for more information.
